About Me

Welcome to my blog about the 2012 Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix.

Mike Elleray, Suzuka 2012.

I’ve had an interest as a fan in F1 for a most of my adulthood, however i’ve only been following the sport closely for the past few years. The first race weekend I attended was the 2011 Singapore Grand Prix and, as i’m sure anyone who has seen an F1 car in action can understand, that experience left a great impression on me. This season I chose Suzuka as the venue for my next attempt at motorsport photography.

I’m a marine engineer, previously serving as an Officer in the Merchant Navy and passenger cruise ships, but now I work in the offshore oil industry. The job provides me plenty of time off for doing the things I enjoy. As an engineer I think I have a natural apprectiation for the mechanics and technical detail of a Formula 1 car.

I’m from Leyland, Lancashire in the north-west of England, United Kingdom. My father introduced me to photography when I started working at sea. My first DSLR was Nikon D70 and for the last three-years i’ve been shooting with a D90. All of my best work, which is by no means limited to motorsport photography, is displayed in my Flickr Photostream and is available for use under a Creative Commons Atrribution licence.
